On 15 May 2026, the 135th Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe was held in Chisinau, with the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili. The session of the Committee of Ministers, attended by the foreign ministers of the Council of Europe Member States, was opened by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset.

Within the framework of the 135th Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, held an introductory meeting with the President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Gunn Marit Helgesen. During the meeting, the parties underscored the role of the Congress in enhancing local self-government and expressed their readiness to continue cooperation.

At the 135th session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, held on 15 May in Moldova, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili addressed the participants. The Minister spoke about the challenges facing Europe and noted that war and conflict are not the only threats undermining the foundations upon which Europe is built. In this context, the Minister highlighted the issue of media freedom, stating that representatives of three Georgian television channels were denied entry into Moldova and, as a result, were prevented from carrying out their professional duties covering the session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

On 6 May 2026, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted its thirteenth decision  under the agenda item entitled “The Council of Europe and the Conflict in Georgia.” The Council of Europe and its 46 Member States once again reaffirm their steadfast support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders.

On 29 April 2026, the Committee of Ministers’ Deputies of the Council of Europe, at its 1558th meeting, reviewed the Secretary General’s 33rd Consolidated Report on the Conflict in Georgia. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Lasha Darsalia. The report was presented by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset.

Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Khatia Tsilosani hosted a New Year event for students of the Georgian Sunday School in Strasbourg. The Ambassador wished the children a Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas, thanking the Sunday School and diaspora representatives for their efforts in preserving the Georgian language and culture abroad.

She is currently in The Hague participating in the diplomatic conference launching the International Claims Commission for Ukraine, under the auspices of the Council of Europe.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Lasha Darsalia participated in the meeting.
