Permanent Representation of Georgia in the Council of Europe hosted reception marking the Independence Day of Georgia
Permanent Representation of Georgia, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara (Georgia), hosted a reception at the Palais de l’Europe, marking the Independence Day of Georgia.
Permanent Representative of Georgia, Ambassador Khatia Tsilosani addressed the Ambassadors of the member states, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the senior officials of the Council of Europe. Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset also delivered a speech, followed by the Minister of Culture of the A/R Republic of Adjara (Georgia) and a renowned pianist, Elisso Bolkvadze in her capacity as the guest of honor.
“In this era of geopolitical shifts, when the rules-based international order is challenged, to stand still means to fail. The only way forward is to ride the wave - to understand the restraints and opportunities, embrace our differences and not sacrifice the substance for form. Now, more than ever, we must stand united: acknowledging the strengths and the challenges of each Member, and drawing strength from one another,” stated Khatia Tsilosani.
She thanked the Secretary General of the Council of Europe for maintaining the issue of Georgia’s occupied regions high on the Council of Europe’s agenda and the Member States for their firm and unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
The reception was complemented by a classical music concert performed by Elisso Bolkvadze. Informational materials and exhibition banners served to promote the importance of the Independence Day of Georgia, as well as the history and the culture of the country.
