In honour of the memory of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II, condolences were expressed in the book of condolences by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, the Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Mathieu Mori, the European Court of Human Rights judge from Georgia, Lado Chanturia, and the Ambassadors of the Holy See (Vatican), Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia, Monaco, Luxembourg, Ireland, Portugal, Croatia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Malta, Latvia, Moldova, Lithuania and the European Union.
 
The Secretary General of the Council of Europe and the representatives of the member states paid tribute to the late Patriarch of Georgia, emphasising his important role in the modern history of Georgia.
 
The Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe, Khatia Tsilosani expressed a sincere gratitude to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe and the Ambassadors of the member states for supporting Georgia in times of hardship.
