Ambassador provided updated information to the Committee of Ministers regarding grave human rights and security situation in the occupied territories of Georgia

Marking 18 years since the 2008 August war, the Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe, Khatia Tsilosani provided the updated information to the Committee of Ministers regarding the grave human rights and security situation in the occupied territories of Georgia.

 

Khatia Tsilosani stated that Georgia remained firmly committed to the peaceful conflict resolution and building trust between the artficially divided communities. She stressed the importance of the Geneva International Negotiations with the involvement of international partners.

 

Georgian Ambassador emphasized the neccessaty to maintain the issue of the occupied territories of Georgia high on the international agenda. She, also noted the importance of effective and timely implementing the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights and ensuring unhindered access for the international monitoring mechanisms on the occupied territories of Georgia.

 

"Lasting peace can best be advanced through sustained dialogue, full respect for international law and continued efforts towards the peaceful restoration of Georgia’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders,“ stated Khatia Tsilosani, Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe.
