Permanent Representative of Georgia met with Commissioner for Human Rights

Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Khatia Tsilosani met with the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O’Flaherty.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the results achieved by Georgia on the path of country's democratic development. Discussion also focused on the current security challenges in the region, the ongoing developments in the country and future plans.

The Ambassador of Georgia reaffirmed to the Commissioner for Human Rights the unwavering will of the Georgian authorities to ensure the maximum protection of human rights and the rule of law in the country, which formed the basis for the continuous democratic development of the country.

Khatia Tsilosani stressed the situation in the occupied territories and emphasized the importance of the Council of Europe’s support in the process of implementing the peace policy by the Georgian authorities.

“Supporting the population living behind the occupation line, protecting their rights and implementing the policy of reconciliation is our goal and we are pleased that the Commissioner for Human Rights has a special focus on these issues,” noted the Ambassador.

She thanked the Commissioner for Human Rights for his support to Georgia and expressed her readiness for future close cooperation.
