Maka Botchorishvili met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset

On 24 September 2025, within the framework of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset.

The parties reviewed a wide spectrum of cooperation and reiterated the importance of Georgia’s close engagement with the Council of Europe.

Particular attention was devoted to the ongoing domestic political situation in Georgia and the local elections scheduled to take place on 4 October. The sides also exchanged views on the prevailing security environment in the region.

In conclusion, both parties reaffirmed their readiness to further advance their close cooperation.
