Official presentation of the 2024-2027 Action Plan of the Council of Europe for Georgia
On 18 January 2024, the official presentation of the 2024-2027 action plan of the Council of Europe for Georgia took place. The meeting was opened by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lasha Darsalia, and the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Bjorn Berge. The meeting was attended by representatives of the executive, legislative and judicial authorities of Georgia, officials of the Council of Europe and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Georgia.
The 2024-2027 Action Plan of the Council of Europe for Georgia was adopted on 18 October, 2023, within the framework of the 1478th session of the Committee of Deputies of Ministers of the Council of Europe. This document was prepared through close cooperation between the executive, legislative and judicial authorities of Georgia, civil society and representatives of the Council of Europe.
The Action Plan aims to strengthen the values of the Council of Europe in the country: human rights, the rule of law and democracy, promotes the implementation of democratic reforms in Georgia, the further approximation of legislation and state institutions to European standards. The Action Plan also envisages the implementation of confidence-building projects in the occupied territories of Georgia.
It should be noted that this is the fourth action plan of the Council of Europe for Georgia. The implementation of the 2020-2023 Action Plan was evaluated positively by the organization.
