The Foreign Ministers of Georgia and Italy have agreed to advance the relations between the two countries to a more active phase

The Georgian and Italian Foreign Ministers agreed to a high-level format of cooperation to upgrade the relations between the two countries to a more active level.
 
Ilia Darchiashvili and Luigi Di Mayo noted with satisfaction the friendly ties between Georgia and Italy and stressed the great potential for the development of cooperation in certain areas. In this regard, special attention was paid to the importance of activating business ties, trade and energy relations. The ministers also reviewed Georgia's European integration agenda and reaffirmed Italy's support for Georgia' s European aspirations. Talking points also included the security environment in the region and the threats of the war in Ukraine, including for Georgia.
 
Discussions focused on the developments in the occupied regions. Luigi Di Mayo reaffirmed Italy’s strong support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Minister thanked his Italian counterpart for the warm hospitality and the high-level organization of the Council of Europe Ministerial Meeting, as well as for the fruitful work done during the Presidency of the Council of Europe. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia invited his counterpart to Georgia.
