On the 6th of February 2014, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr Thorbjørn Jagland paid an official visit to Georgia.
In the framework of the visit, the official presentation of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Document includes joint projects to be implemented in 2013-2015, aiming at the cooperation with the Government of Georgia in the areas of human rights, democracy and the rule of law. It was adopted by The CoE Committee of Ministers following the consultations between the representatives of Georgian authorities and Council of Europe.
During the presentation of the Action Plan, Ms. Maia Panjikidze, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Thorbjørn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Ms. Tea Tsulukiani, Minister of Justice and Ms. Ekaterine Kristesashvili, Deputy Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance delivered speeches. The representative of Diplomatic corps and government agencies attended the presentation.
In the Framework of the visit, the Secretary General held meetings with the President of Georgia, Prime-Minister of Georgia, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Georgian Delegation to the PACE. The presentation of the Action Plan was followed by the joint press-conference of the Secretary General and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
